I wrote a short ebook a few years ago but never finished it or made it public. But today is the day to bring some clarity. This 15-minute read is my response to what I feel is a misunderstanding of the purposes and distinctions of Consultants and Coaches. Those are different roles.

Having hired both throughout my leadership and also being both for others to this day I've found that when people don't have the clarity of what each does, they're frustrated and less effective in using what an outside expert can offer. 

But even worse, people who call themselves coaches or consultants aren't providing a lot of clarity either... I think because they don't know. That's ok, let's get better together.

I find many "coaches" are actually wanting to be consultants. And then some consultants present ideas and instigate initiatives that only coaches can really see through to implementation, not to mention completion.

This will help you. Whether you hire me or another outside voice. Or whether you pay someone or just ask for free advice. I think this will help you ask better questions and set better expectations.
